| Abstract | Business analytics has become an essential tool for organizations seeking to improve the quality of financial decision-making in an increasingly data-driven business environment. Advances in data analytics, artificial intelligence, and business intelligence have enabled organizations to move beyond traditional decision-making approaches that relied primarily on historical financial information and managerial intuition. This review examines the role of business analytics in supporting financial decision-making by synthesizing existing literature on its applications, benefits, challenges, and emerging trends. The review draws on published studies from finance, accounting, information systems, and business management to provide a comprehensive understanding of how business analytics contributes to key financial functions. The findings indicate that business analytics plays a significant role in financial planning and budgeting, investment decision-making, financial forecasting, risk management, fraud detection, and performance evaluation. By integrating data from multiple sources and applying descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive analytical techniques, organizations can improve forecasting accuracy, identify financial risks, allocate resources efficiently, and make more informed strategic decisions. The review also highlights that the successful implementation of business analytics depends on several organizational factors, including data quality, technological infrastructure, analytical capabilities, and effective governance. Despite the considerable benefits reported in the literature, challenges such as data integration, cybersecurity concerns, shortage of skilled professionals, and organizational resistance continue to influence the effective adoption of analytics in financial management. Furthermore, recent developments in artificial intelligence, machine learning, cloud computing, and explainable AI are expanding the capabilities of business analytics and creating new opportunities for enhancing financial decision-making. Overall, the literature suggests that business analytics has evolved from a reporting tool into a strategic capability that supports evidence-based financial management. The concludes that organizations are likely to achieve greater value from business analytics when technological capabilities are combined with managerial expertise, sound governance, and a data-driven organizational culture. |
