| Abstract | Sri Vijayagopala Yathigal occupies a significant place in the Tanjavur Bhajana Sampradaya through his extensive contribution of devotional compositions. His kritis form an integral part of the traditional bhajana paddhati and continue to be rendered in various stages of the sampradaya. His lyrical works are imbued with profound bhakti, bhava, and spiritual philosophy, inspiring devotees towards nāma saṅkīrtanam and complete surrender to the Divine. The simplicity of his language, coupled with deep devotional expression, makes his compositions accessible and appealing to both musicians and devotees. His contributions remain a valuable literary and musical treasure in preserving the rich heritage of the Tanjavur Bhajana tradition |
