Indus Sign Load Carrier

Abstract	The archaeologist Walter A. Fairservis Jr. endeavoured to decipher the meanings of the sign “load carrier” in the Indus script. In his view, it is a rebus and should be interpreted as ‘Guardian’ or ‘Watchman’.This publication aims to determine to what extent Fairservis’s interpretations prove to be correct, or whether an alternative solution can be proposed.
