| Abstract | The current research focuses on the views of athletes regarding whey and vegan protein powder inparticular in three aspects: efficacy, safety, and eco-friendliness. Protein powders are widely usedin sports and fitness, however, there isn't much research that would compare beef-based and plant-based protein powders based on attributes other than nutrient content. For thispurpose, a structuredquestionnaire of 10 multiple-choice questions was distributed through Google Forms resulting in101 answers from athletes. The data collected is analyzed using descriptive statistics to show howathletes are using and what they think about whey and vegan protein powders. Then, Chi-squaretests are performed to check if there are any links between the demographic factors and the abilityof the athletes’ perception to evaluate effectiveness, safety concerns, and sustainability concerns. This study provides a fresh view on the communication of the athlete's information, shows theperceived advantages and disadvantages of whey versus vegan protein powder, and, as a result, helps both the buyer and the seller to be aware of the new tendencies in supplementation. Theresearch will bring about a differentiation in sports nutrition and the sustainable dietary trends. |
