Reconfiguring Banking through Fintech: An Empirical Examination

| Abstract | India has been marked as one of the fastest-growing economies of the world post Covid-19 which inspired India to take up the Aatma- Nirbhar Bharat or in other words Self-Reliant Scheme in India. This gave a surge for facilitating India’s quest towards technologies and become a Tech savvy country turning it into a global fin-tech superpower. Above all, the Government of India has launched numerous schemes and initiatives, particularly in Eastern India. Kolkata, the metropolitan city of West Bengal has been able to allure techniques across the globe by being an epitome of emerging India. This paper highlights on the technical trends instilled and the acceptance of Fintech services in the city. The paper examines the stages of Fintech development and integration in Kolkata and the pace of Fintech adoption by the consumers in the banking sector. The methodology includes preparation of structured questionnaires for data collection from around 130 SBI customers in an attempt to study their experiences of Fintech solutions offered by the country’s largest commercial public sector bank. The findings include the quality of Fintech services offered, preferences, experiences and challenges faced in usage of services from consumers’ point of view. |
