| Abstract | This study examined the correlation between admission test scores and Medical Technology Licensure Examination (MTLE) performance of BS in Medical Technology graduates from General Santos Doctors’ Medical School Foundation, Inc. (GSDMSFI) for batches 2018 to 2022. Using a purposive sampling method, the researchers analyzed the admission test results from the Guidance Office and the licensure examination ratings from the Dean’s Office, including only first-time board takers with complete records. The study employed descriptive statistics (mean) to determine central tendencies and Pearson’s correlation coefficient (r) to measure the relationship between admission scores and board exam performance. The findings indicated that the majority of students entered the program with moderate academic readiness, as reflected in their stanine scores (4–6), and that a significant number obtained marginally passing scores (75.00–79.99) in the MTLE. The computed Pearson’s r of 0.582 (p < .001) revealed a moderate positive correlation, confirming that students with higher admission test scores tended to perform better on the licensure examination. Based on these results, the study recommended enhancing admission policies by raising entrance score thresholds, implementing conditional admission programs, strengthening board exam review integration, and conducting regular evaluations of admission test effectiveness. These measures aimed to improve student preparedness, increase licensure passing rates, and ensure the production of competent, board-certified medical technologists. Future research may explore additional academic indicators, such as GWA, internship performance, and study habits, to further refine student selection and academic support strategies. |
