Measuring the Perceived Research Stress among Ph.D. Scholars

Abstract Research scholars faces academic, professional and personal difficulties during their PhD tenure and it demands lots of patience, resilience and perseverance from research scholars. To address this issue, the present study sought to develop and validate a scale for measuring perceived research stress among research scholars. The study adopted a quantitative approach and Cross-sectional survey method to collect 198 samples from Research scholars. The dimensions of perceived research stress were Coursework, Time Management, Peer-group relationships and Publication Stress. The tool used for the study was a self-reported questionnaire. Respondents had to used 5-point Likert Summative scale used for filling the questionnaire. For Item Analysis t-test was used and value for Cronbach alpha was 0.83 which reflects the reliability of the final tool which had 45 Items. This standardized scale can be used in Academic to assess the Perceived Research Stress level among research scholars for their Psychological well-being and Counselling.
