| Abstract | In this communication, we present the influence of Praseodymium (Pr) doping on structural and elastic properties of nickel ferrite nanoparticles investigated through X-ray diffraction and Fourier transform infrared studies. The samples of NiFe2-xPrxO4 (x = 0.0, 0.025, 0.050, 0.075, 0.1) nanoparticles were prepared using a green synthesis approach in which Aegle marmelos was used as oxidizing and reducing agent. Single-phase formation with a cubic spinel structure was established through XRD analysis. The hopping length, bond length, interionic distances and bond angles increase with Pr doping, confirming the incorporation of Pr and its influence on structural properties. FTIR spectra also characterize the spinel structure formation by showing two prominent absorption bands. The elastic stiffness constant, Young’s modulus. Bulk modulus and rigidity modulus determined from FTIR analysis show increasing trends with Pr doping. The longitudinal, transverse velocity, shear velocity and mean velocity show a decreasing trend with Pr doping in nickel ferrite. Thus, Pr doping in nickel ferrite influences the structural and elastic properties of nickel ferrite nanoparticles. |
