| Abstract | The present study aims to comparatively examine the value orientation of teachers teaching Commerce and Economics at the undergraduate level in Jhansi Division of Uttar Pradesh. A descriptive survey method was employed for the study. The geographical area of the study was Jhansi Division of Uttar Pradesh, and the population comprised teachers teaching Commerce and Economics at the undergraduate level in the selected colleges. A total sample of 200 teachers was selected for the study, comprising 100 Commerce teachers and 100 Economics teachers. A standardized value study instrument/value questionnaire was used to measure the value orientation of the teachers, consisting of ten major value dimensions. The data obtained were analyzed using the mean, standard deviation, and independent-samples t-test. The findings of the study revealed that statistically significant differences existed between Commerce and Economics teachers in the dimensions of religious, aesthetic, economic, hedonistic, and power values. Economics teachers were found to have higher levels of religious, aesthetic, and hedonistic values than Commerce teachers, whereas Commerce teachers were found to have higher levels of economic and power values. In contrast, no statistically significant differences were found between the two groups in social, democratic, knowledge, family prestige, and health values. Therefore, the study concludes that both similarities and differences exist in the value orientation of higher education teachers of Commerce and Economics. |
