Prompt Intelligence: The Next Essential Skill for Learning with Artificial Intelligence

Author(s) Mr. SAMRAT PRITHVI
Country India
Abstract Artificial Intelligence has transformed how students learn, solve problems, write code, and generate ideas. Unlike traditional search engines, AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Copilot interact through conversation, making the quality of their responses highly dependent on the quality of the user's prompt. This suggests that the ability to ask meaningful questions may become one of the most important skills in the AI era. This paper introduces the concept of Prompt Intelligence, defined as the human ability to think clearly, define problems, provide relevant context, communicate effectively, and critically evaluate AI generated responses. Rather than viewing prompting as merely a technical skill, the paper argues that Prompt Intelligence is a cognitive and educational competency that integrates curiosity, logical reasoning, creativity, communication, and critical thinking.
From the perspective of a student growing up with Artificial Intelligence, this paper explores why Prompt Intelligence should be considered a fundamental literacy for future education. It examines its relationship with learning and proposes a conceptual framework that encourages students to collaborate with AI while maintaining independent thinking. The study concludes that in an age where AI can generate answers instantly, the ability to ask better questions may become one of the most valuable human skills.
