Author(s) Mr. Revti Raman Dhirwani
Country India
Abstract The rapid growth of financial technology (Fintech) in India has significantly transformed the delivery, accessibility, and consumption of financial services. This study examines the factors through which the emerging Fintech sector is affecting traditional financial institutions in India, with particular focus on the financial ecosystem of Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh. Traditional banks, non-banking financial companies, cooperative institutions, and insurance providers continue to benefit from institutional trust, regulatory credibility, and extensive physical networks. However, they increasingly face competitive pressures arising from digital payments, online lending, mobile-based financial services, automated processes, and data-driven decision-making. The study explores key factors such as technological innovation, customer expectations, digital convenience, competitive pricing, accessibility, operational efficiency, and the growing use of data analytics in financial services. It also considers the changing relationship between Fintech firms and traditional institutions, including increasing collaboration through digital platforms and technology partnerships. By examining these developments within the Indian context, the study seeks to identify the major challenges faced by traditional financial institutions and assess their ability to adapt to the evolving Fintech ecosystem. The findings are expected to provide insights into how traditional institutions can strengthen digital capabilities, improve customer experience, and remain competitive while leveraging their existing institutional advantages.
