| Abstract | Halophilic microorganisms represent a unique group of extremophiles that have adapted to survive and thrive in environments characterized by high salinity. These organisms are not merely salt-tolerant; they require specific concentrations of sodium chloride (NaCI) to maintain their structural integrity and physiological functions. The marine ecosystem, with its vast coastal soil and sediment, serves as a primary habitat for such microbes. This research focuses on the systematic isolation of halophilic bacteria from marine soil collected from Dhanushkodi, Tamil Nadu, and the subsequent evaluation of their potential to produce enzymes of industrial significance, specifically amylase and lipase. |
