The Epistemological Rewards and Systemic Challenges of Sanskrit Language Acquisition in the 21st Century

Author(s) Dr. Rishidev Bhargav N
Country India
Abstract This research paper evaluates the dual dimensions of pursuing Sanskrit philology in the modern era. As one of the oldest attested members of the Indo-European language family, Sanskrit possesses an invaluable repository of philosophical, scientific, and literary heritage. In the contemporary milieu, learning Sanskrit yields significant epistemological, cognitive, and technological rewards, particularly in computational linguistics and artificial intelligence. However, prospective scholars face formidable systemic hurdles, including pedagogical anachronisms, an intricate morphosyntactic framework, and an environment lacking conversational immersion. This essay critically examines these competing dynamics, proposing structural paradigms to bridge classical scholarship with contemporary institutional frameworks.
