Abstract This study examines retention strategies for women faculty members in private colleges in Meerut district, focusing on key factors affecting their job satisfaction and commitment. A quantitative survey was conducted with 68 women faculty members, using a structured questionnaire based on a 5-point Likert scale.
Findings indicate that inadequate salary and financial benefits are the leading cause of turnover (M = 4.13), followed by positive perceptions of feeling appreciated at work (M = 3.90) and involvement in decision-making (M = 3.84). Respondents also rated promotion equity (M = 3.81) and work-life balance (M = 3.65) favorably. Moderate satisfaction was noted with salary and benefits (M = 3.41) and grievance mechanisms (M = 3.28).
A key concern is gender-based unfair treatment, which received a low score (M = 2.59), pointing to ongoing challenges in workplace equity. The study recommends regular salary reviews, improved policy communication, gender sensitization, and equitable workload distribution to strengthen retention of women faculty in private institutions.
