Abstract E-governance plays a crucial role in modernizing public administration by promoting transparency, efficiency, and accountability in government services. Among its various applications, income tax e-filing has become a key innovation that simplifies the process of tax compliance and enhances service delivery to citizens. However, the effectiveness of e-filing systems depends largely on the degree of trust that taxpayers have in these digital platforms. This study examines the role of trust as a determining factor in the successful adoption and continuous use of income tax e-filing systems. The research aims to identify the key dimensions influencing taxpayer trust, including system security, privacy protection, service reliability, ease of use, and government transparency. Data will be collected from income tax payers in the Tenkasi area to analyze their perceptions and attitudes towards the e-filing process. The findings are expected to provide insights into how trust-building measures can enhance user satisfaction and participation in e-governance initiatives. The study concludes that establishing a trustworthy digital environment is essential for increasing voluntary compliance, improving taxpayer experience, and achieving the broader goals of digital governance. Strengthening trust in e-governance not only encourages the adoption of e-filing but also contributes to the overall success of India’s digital transformation in public service delivery.
