Abstract The Paudi Bhuiyan is one among the PVTGs of Odisha, predominantly inhabiting the bordering regions of Deogarh, Sundargarh, and Keonjhar districts. The deep-rooted cohabitation with nature over generations, the Paudi Bhuiyan community has developed a unique body of knowledge based on live experimentation on trial and error for healthcare practices. Using the age-old traditional knowledges they have become proficient in preparing natural remedies from available flora and fauna in sustainable and ecologically responsible bases that foster a harmonious living of the community with nature. Despite the existence of various home-grown health care practices, the present paper explores the use of flora species for treating various ailments. A total of 40 different flora species is primarily found; those have been used by the Paudi Bhuiyan community of the sample area. Each plant holds great importance within the community and is considered sacred.
