| Abstract | Artificial Intelligence (AI) is becoming increasingly accessible to small businesses and is changing how they perform different business activities. The paper explores the current landscape of AI adoption and application within small businesses and its potential impact on their future growth. The study is based on the secondary research methodology, which involves qualitative research with academic articles, books, institutional reports, government publications, and credible industry studies. It delves into the field of AI adoption and applications in marketing, customer engagement, inventory management, sales analysis, administration, and business decision-making. The study shows that AI can be beneficial for small businesses in several ways, including enhancing efficiency, structuring information, and reducing time-consuming tasks. Financial constraints, lack of technical know-how, limited digital skills, data privacy and security and reliability concerns, however, play a role in its adoption. The study concludes that AI is more likely to assist rather than supplant human jobs. The future of its application in small businesses will rely on the synergy between AI capabilities and human judgment, skills, and responsible usage. |
