| Abstract | This study examined the implementation of strategic human resource practices and their influence on faculty development among full-time Business and Accountancy faculty members in selected higher education institutions (HEIs) in Leyte, Philippines. Specifically, it assessed the level of implementation of strategic human resource practices in terms of recruitment and selection, training and development, performance management, career development, rewards and recognition, and employee engagement, as well as the level of faculty development in terms of teaching competence, research competence, professional development, instructional innovation, and leadership competence. The study employed a quantitative descriptive-correlational research design involving 278 faculty respondents selected using the Raosoft sample size calculator. Data were collected through a validated structured questionnaire and analyzed using weighted mean, standard deviation, Pearson Product-Moment Correlation, and Multiple Linear Regression. The findings revealed that strategic human resource practices were highly implemented, while faculty development was highly developed across the participating institutions. A significant positive relationship was found between strategic human resource practices and faculty development, indicating that effective human resource management contributes substantially to enhancing faculty competencies and professional growth. Furthermore, selected dimensions of strategic human resource practices significantly predicted faculty development. Based on these findings, a Faculty Development Framework was proposed to strengthen strategic human resource practices, promote continuous professional development, improve institutional effectiveness, and support sustainable academic excellence in Business and Accountancy education. The study provides empirical evidence that strategically aligned human resource initiatives are essential for developing competent faculty members and enhancing the quality and competitiveness of higher education institutions. |
