Abstract Bank employees work in an environment characterized by customer pressure, targets, extended working hours, and long-term digital engagement. These result in increased stress and emotional turbulence among employees, which, in turn, affects psychological well-being. Meditation, a practice that originated in ancient times, can be used as a workplace wellness strategy to combat stress and boost employee well-being. This study examines the impact of meditation on the well-being of bank employees at DCCB in Dindigul District.
This study uses two independent groups: employees who practice meditation and those who do not. A sample of 80 bank employees from the District Central Cooperative Bank was selected for the study. Primary data was collected using standardized instruments: the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS-10) to measure stress, the WHO-5 Well-Being Index to assess psychological well-being, and the Emotional Exhaustion subscale of the Maslach Burnout Inventory to measure burnout. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and independent-samples t-tests in SPSS.
The study reveals a significant difference in employees' well-being between meditators and non-meditators at Dindigul Central Cooperative Bank. There is a significant difference in employees' stress levels between meditators and non-meditators at Dindigul Central Cooperative Bank. There is a significant difference in employee burnout between meditators and non-meditators at Dindigul Central Cooperative Bank. The findings indicate reduced stress and emotional exhaustion, along with a significant improvement in well-being scores. These results will show that meditation can be an effective, low-cost, and practical stress-management tool in the banking sector. The study highlights the need to integrate meditation-based wellness programs into the banking sector to enhance employee well-being and maintain organizational sustainability.
