Author(s) Dr. D. Elumalai

Abstract Digital competence has become an essential component of effective teaching and learning in contemporary education. Prospective teachers need adequate knowledge, skills, confidence, and responsible use of digital technologies to support meaningful classroom practices. Innovative teaching practices, in turn, enable teachers to adopt creative, learner-centred, collaborative, and technology-supported approaches to enhance students’ learning experiences. The present study, entitled “Digital Competence and Innovative Teaching Practices among Prospective Teachers: A Correlational Study,” aims to examine the levels of Digital Competence and Innovative Teaching Practices and to determine the relationship between the two variables among prospective teachers. A quantitative survey method with a correlational research design will be adopted. The study will comprise 400 prospective teachers pursuing B.Ed. programmes in selected Colleges of Education. Data will be collected using standardized measures of Digital Competence and Innovative Teaching Practices. The collected data will be analysed using percentage, mean, standard deviation, independent-samples t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson’s product-moment correlation, and regression analysis. The study is expected to provide useful insights into the role of digital competence in promoting innovative teaching practices and to offer implications for strengthening technology-integrated teacher education programmes.
