| Abstract | Employee retention has emerged as an important human resource management concern, particularly for startup organisations operating in highly competitive and uncertain business environments. Startups frequently operate with limited financial and human resources while simultaneously facing pressure to grow rapidly. These characteristics can create challenges related to workload, career progression, compensation, job security, work-life balance, and organisational culture, all of which may influence employees' decisions to remain with or leave an organization. This proposed research aims to examine the relationship between employee retention strategies, employee satisfaction, employee retention, and organizational performance in startups. The study will investigate major retention practices, including compensation and rewards, career development, training, recognition, leadership support, organizational culture, work-life balance, flexible working arrangements, and employee involvement. A mixed-method research design will be adopted. Quantitative data will be collected through structured questionnaires from startup employees, while qualitative information will be obtained through semi-structured interviews with HR professionals, founders, and managers. Quantitative data will be analyzed using descriptive statistics, reliability analysis, correlation, regression, and potentially mediation analysis. Qualitative data will be analyzed thematically. The study is expected to contribute to the literature on strategic human resource management by developing a startup-specific framework connecting retention strategies with employee satisfaction, retention, and organizational performance. |
