| Abstract | Prestressed concrete railway bridges are widely used due to their strength, durability, and serviceability under heavy rail loading. A comparison is presented between a post-tensioned single-cell box girder and a post-tensioned precast composite I-girder railway bridge. Both bridge alternatives were designed for a 40 m single-track span and analyzed using MIDAS Civil in accordance with AREMA loading requirements. The evaluation considers stresses, deflections, prestressing requirements, material consumption, and serviceability performance to assess the relative efficiency of each bridge system. |
