| Abstract | Mutual fund awareness has increased among individual investors, but awareness does not always result in actual investment. This study examined the gap between mutual fund awareness and investment participation and identified factors influencing participation among aware individuals. The study used a descriptive and analytical research design based on primary data collected through a structured questionnaire. A total of 183 valid responses were considered for analysis. The study used descriptive statistics, cross-tabulation, correlation analysis, reliability testing, and binary logistic regression. The findings showed that 155 respondents (84.7%) were aware of mutual funds, while 82 (44.8% of the total sample) had invested in mutual funds. Among aware respondents, 82 (52.9%) were investors and 73 (47.1%) were non-investors, indicating a clear awareness–investment gap. Functional knowledge was positively associated with investment participation (OR = 2.31, p < .001), while perceived risk had a negative association (OR = 0.38, p = .001). Financial confidence also showed a positive association with participation (OR = 2.06, p = .036). The study concludes that awareness alone is insufficient to encourage investment and that practical knowledge, financial confidence, and risk perception play important roles in converting awareness into investment participation. |
