| Abstract | The production of synthetic fuels through the pyrolysis of plastic waste represents a promising alternative for both waste management and energy production. However, the efficiency of the process depends on the control of thermodynamic parameters, particularly superheating and subcooling. This study compares two experimental configurations, with and without an R134a refrigeration system, based on 76 experimental trials conducted over an 18-month period. The results show that the integration of a refrigeration system reduces subcooling by 86.1%, from 36.9 °C to 5.1 °C, and superheating by 75.2%, from 41.6 °C to 10.3 °C, thereby bringing these parameters within their optimal operating ranges. A first-order dynamic model is proposed, with a transfer function of F(s) = 1.528/(s + 1), demonstrating the feasibility of automatic control. This study demonstrates that active cooling management is essential to ensure process stability, safety, and energy efficiency. |
