Agricultural Profile of Anantnag District of Jammu and Kashmir: an Analysis of Secondary Statistics

Abstract	This study examines the agricultural profile of Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir using district-level secondary statistics, with particular attention to the structure and changing pattern of agricultural activities. The analysis is based primarily on official statistics published by the Directorate of Economics and Statistics, Government of Jammu and Kashmir, including the Digest of Statistics. It covers major dimensions of agriculture in the district, such as land utilization, net and gross area sown, Irrigation, cropping pattern, horticulture, fruit production and changes in the area under major crops. The study also considers the officially reported status of organic farming as an emerging component of the district’s agricultural sector. Tables and graphical presentations are used to examine the distribution, composition and changing pattern of agricultural activities. The study seeks to provide a systematic overview of the agricultural structure of Anantnag district and to highlight the changing importance of different agricultural and horticultural activities within the district economy.
