Abstract Hyperuricemia is a metabolic disorder characterized by elevated serum uric acid levels and is the primary risk factor for gout, driven by dysregulated purine metabolism, oxidative stress, endothelial dysfunction, and NLRP3 inflammasome-mediated inflammation. In Ayurveda, vatarakta is a classical inflammatory disorder with comparable clinical manifestations, attributed to agnimandya, ama, rakta duṣṭi, srotorodha and vāta prakopa. This review examines the functional correlation between the Ayurvedic pathogenesis of Vatarakta and the molecular mechanisms underlying hyperuricemia and gout. It highlights conceptual parallels between classical Ayurvedic principles and contemporary evidence on metabolic dysregulation, oxidative stress, vascular dysfunction, monosodium urate crystal deposition, and inflammatory signaling. The review also discusses the therapeutic potential of Ayurvedic medicinal plants with antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, xanthine oxidase inhibitory, and uricosuric properties. Although these correlations are interpretative rather than equivalent, integrating Ayurvedic concepts with modern molecular insights provides a promising framework for future mechanistic research and evidence-based integrative management of hyperuricemia.
