Abstract The historic environment is vulnerable to climate change that is continuous. The loss or degradation of these heritage sites adversely affects physicality, collective memory, identity, and cultural continuity. It is learnt that pose a definite need for policies and strategies to address climate change. Protecting and preserving these sites is particularly challenging because of their diversity in form, location, materials, and cultural meaning. This diversity with increased climatic change illustrates a critical gap in existing heritage management and policy frameworks, emphasizing the need for context-specific approaches for safeguarding historic sites. This paper examines the interrelationship between heritage sites and climate resilience through a case study of Buddhist archaeological sites of Telangana, which hold deep cultural, religious, and historical significance shaped by historical transformation, environmental interaction, and changing cultural meanings. Often located on hillocks, near water bodies, or within ecologically sensitive zones, these sites reveal an inherent sensibility towards the environment around, wisely shaped by Buddhist philosophical ideas of engaging with nature. By conceptualizing Buddhist heritage as a dynamic and relational system, this paper argues for the integration of Buddhist sites of Telangana into sustainable heritage management and climate-adaptive strategies. Drawing upon field observations, archival sources, and secondary literature, this paper assesses the resilience embedded within the material culture, landscape integration, and ritual use of Buddhist archaeological sites of Telangana. The study also evaluates current heritage management approaches of integrating climate resilience into conservation planning.
