| Abstract | Custom Hiring Service Centres (CHCs) play an important role in promoting farm mechanization by providing agricultural machinery to farmers on a rental basis, particularly benefiting small and marginal farmers. Despite their significance, farmers face several difficulties in accessing CHC services effectively. The present study was conducted to assess the constraints faced by farmers in accessing Custom Hiring Service Centre and to obtain suggestions for strengthening service delivery mechanisms. The study was carried out in Anand district of Gujarat state, where an operational CHC managed by AAPSU Cooperative is functioning. A total of 200 farmers were selected randomly from Anand, Borsad and Petlad talukas using an ex-post-facto research design. Data were collected through a pre-tested Gujarati interview schedule and analyzed using frequency, percentage and mean. The findings revealed that unavailability of crop-specific implements and machinery during peak season were major constraints, while establishing more CHCs and strengthening repair facilities were the major suggestions expressed by farmers. |
