Geographical Analysis of Tourism in India: Spatial Patterns, Ecofootprints, and Sustainable Development

Author(s) Dr. Baban Murlidhar Mohite
Country India
Abstract This research paper examines the structural and spatial dimensions of tourism geography in India, evaluating how distinct physiographic regions dictate tourist influx, seasonal variations, and economic clustering. Utilizing standard spatial distribution models, we analyze the ecological carrying capacity of high-density tourist hubs across the Himalayan and coastal zones. The paper highlights the critical environmental vulnerabilities caused by unregulated structural development and details alternative frameworks for sustainable community-based tourism. Linear progression modeling is deployed to project tourism demand dynamics relative to infrastructure investments over the next decade.
