| Abstract | Teachers play an important role in the development of society, and the attitude of future teachers towards the teaching profession greatly influences their commitment and effectiveness. The present study was conducted to examine the attitude of B.Ed. student-teachers towards the teaching profession. It also aimed to find out whether there were any differences in their attitudes based on gender and pedagogy. A descriptive survey method was used for the study. Data were collected from B.Ed. student-teachers using a standardized Attitude towards Teaching Profession Scale and analyzed with appropriate statistical techniques. The findings showed that B.Ed. student-teachers generally had a positive attitude towards the teaching profession. The study also found that there was no significant difference in their attitudes with regard to gender and pedagogy. This indicates that male and female student-teachers, as well as students from different pedagogical specializations, have similar views towards the teaching profession. The study concludes that B.Ed. programmes are helping to develop a positive attitude towards teaching among future educators, regardless of their background or specialization. These findings may be useful for teacher educators and institutions in strengthening teacher education programmes and encouraging greater professional commitment among prospective teachers. |
