| Abstract | Adolescents face rapid changes in their body and identity formation during their development phase. During this phase they are even more likely to be affected by stress and cause harmful long-term effects on health. Studies show that academic stress, disordered eating behaviors (DEBs), and weight stigma are linked together as a bi-directional feedback loop. This systematic review includes studies from 2016 to 2026 to understand the psychological, physiological and social factors that link these three concepts among Indian adolescents. It might not be outwardly visible but academic stress and weight problems in adolescents have a high probability to occur together during their most delicate time of development and growth. It is important to monitor their emotions and encourage schools and families to give them the proper psychological support to cope with these problems and not just stop with giving them stress about exams and marks. Schools must carry out regular programs like yoga, meditation as daily activities to reduce stress and increase self-esteem. This helps the students to manage their emotions during adolescence and avoid burn out during exam time. |
