| Abstract | Postpartum Depression (PPD) represents a profound maternal mental health challenge affecting emotional well-being, mother-infant bonding, and family stability worldwide. While conventional psychiatric and psychotherapeutic interventions serve as the primary standard of care, complementary modalities such as homeopathy are frequently sought by mothers navigating perinatal vulnerabilities due to concerns surrounding medication safety during lactation and personal treatment preferences. This paper presents a narrative critical literature review examining the theoretical descriptions and clinical relevance of three classical homeopathic remedies-Sepia officinalis, Natrum muriaticum, and Pulsatilla nigricans- in addressing postpartum emotional disturbances. From the daily clinical perspective of practicing homeopathic physicians, individualized prescribing based on symptom similarity, constitutional typology, and mental generals consistently yields positive therapeutic outcomes in patient recovery. However, a significant gap persists in the medical literature: homeopathic practitioners are frequently unable to produce large-scale clinical trials or robust empirical research papers due to systemic challenges including lack of standardized documentation, limited research infrastructure, and patient participation barriers. This article critically examines this limitation, advocates for rigorous clinical documentation, and calls upon the medical and scientific community to bridge traditional clinical success with modern evidence-based research methodologies, ensuring that the benefits of homeopathic care are scientifically validated and accessible to a broader community. |
