| Abstract | This paper presents a Bibliometric Systematic Literature Review (BSLR) of how Operations Research (OR) is applied to sustainable e-commerce and retail. Data were drawn from theScopus database and screened using the PRISMA framework, giving a corpus of 2,370 documents from1,039 sources published between 2006 and 2026. Output has grown at 20.94% a year, and an exponential trend (R² = 0.9854) fits the data far better than a linear one. Publication is concentrated ina single journal, Sustainability (Switzerland), which accounts for 11.9% of documents, and the UnitedStates and China lead geographically, while Sub-Saharan Africa, Central Asia and the Middle East record no output and international co-authorship stands at 24.81%. Thematic mapping shows no stabletheoretical core, and “e-commerce” is not a prominent keyword, so the corpus reflects sustainable retailmore broadly. OR is a minor constituent: optimization and e-commerce terms appear together in only 27 papers. Eight directions for future research are proposed, covering returns and packaging, demandand routing, sustainability accounting, strategic actors and fairness, digital technologies, end-to-endintegration, emerging markets, and data and methods. Implications for theory, management, methodology and policy are discussed. |
