From Financial Access to Financial Agency: the Role of AI-enabled Microfinance in Women’s Financial Decision-making

Abstract	This study examines the extent to which AI-enabled microfinance facilitates women’s control over savings, credit utilization, investment choices, and household financial decisions. By analyzing the relationship between digital financial inclusion and women’s empowerment, the research seeks to determine whether AI-enhanced microfinance moves beyond providing financial access to fostering genuine financial agency. The study addresses a significant research gap in the literature, which has largely examined conventional microfinance and AI-based financial services independently, while offering limited insights into their combined impact on women’s financial autonomy in semi-urban and rural settings. The findings are expected to contribute to the discourse on inclusive finance, digital transformation, and gender-responsive economic development in the Mysore region.
