Abstract TapConnect is an AI-powered, NFC-based digital professional networking and skill-matching platform developed to help college students showcase their technical skills, academic projects, achievements, and professional profiles efficiently. Traditional networking methods often require students to share resumes, social media links, and contact information separately, making professional information less convenient to access. TapConnect addresses this challenge by integrating Near Field Communication (NFC) technology, QR codes, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) into a unified digital platform.
The system enables students to create and maintain digital portfolios containing personal details, technical skills, academic projects, certifications, resumes, and professional links. These profiles can be accessed through NFC cards or QR codes, enabling quick and convenient profile sharing. The platform provides dedicated interfaces for students, department administrators, and super administrators to manage profiles, NFC cards, user accounts, and platform activities. AI-powered features integrated through the Google Gemini API support professional summary generation, resume review, project recommendations, skill analysis, and skill matching between students by identifying shared and complementary skills. Activity tracking and analytics also help administrators monitor platform usage and networking interactions.
TapConnect is developed using React and Vite for the frontend, Node.js and Express.js for the backend, and MongoDB for data storage. By combining digital portfolios, contactless profile sharing, and AI-assisted skill analysis, the platform aims to enhance students’ digital presence, simplify professional networking, and encourage meaningful academic and career-oriented connections within the college community.
