Assessing the Knowledge Gaps of Quantity Surveyors in Mechanical and Electrical Services Cost Estimation

Abstract	Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) services, provide comfortable and healthy conditions in a building and contribute a significant proportion to a building's total capital and future costs. However, despite the importance of M&E services in the modern building construction industry, they are one element of a building that quantity surveyors find challenging to prepare cost estimates for. This study is focused on identifying the knowledge gaps of quantity surveyors that often inhibit their abilities to effectively prepare cost estimates of M&E services. By addressing these knowledge gaps, it is expected that quantity surveyors competencies in M&E services would improve.
