Abstract | Computer vision is the field of Artificial Intelligence which enables machines to understand and interpret the visual world like humans. This paper provides an overview of Computer vision and its components- image acquisition, preprocessing, feature extraction, object detection, and interpretation. It also traces the history and evolution of computer vision and its comparison with human eye. Furthermore, a description of computer vision applications in diverse fields such as healthcare, agriculture, banking, retail, and so on is provided, existing challenges along a summary of future direction and trend is provided. |
