A Study of the Role of the Start-up India Scheme in Sustainable Business Ecosystem

Abstract The Start-Up India Scheme, launched by the Government of India in January 2016, aims to foster entrepreneurship, drive innovation, and create employment opportunities. While it primarily focuses on economic growth, the scheme’s potential to drive sustainable development is immense, as it addresses critical environmental issues like renewable energy and waste management. The scheme covers the arena more than its defined ambity inculcating long term environmental and social issues. The issue of sustainability is much talked about in new businesses. This scheme not only provides platform to take risk but, also to support in meeting out financial as well as business risks. This paper also examines the Start-Up India initiative’s contributions to sustainable development, exploring its structure, objectives, and achievements. An attempt have been made to underpin the challenges such as funding gaps, regulatory hurdles, compliance issues as well as strategies like enhanced financial support and policy reforms, aimed at driving long- term sustainability. The research rely on the secondary data from credible sources to build up premises and primary sources like structured interviews to verify the objectives. The outcome of the research seems to be promising with quantum of job creation to contribute to economic growth and facilitation in the social development. It also seems to contribute in the sustainable growth of new ventures to a breathing level and survive henceforth.
