Abstract This research investigates the relationship between self-concept and academic achievement among school students. Self-concept—the perception a student holds about their abilities—has been widely studied as a psychological factor influencing performance. Using a correlational design, data was gathered from a sample of 100 students across Grades 6 to 10 from urban schools. The study utilized the Self-Description Questionnaire II (SDQ-II) and term-end academic scores. A moderate positive correlation was found between high academic self-concept and better academic performance. The study highlights the need for educators to nurture positive self-beliefs to enhance academic outcomes and recommends incorporating confidence-building activities in classroom environments.
