Abstract The calligraphy classroom is facing new opportunities and challenges in the era of AI. This study, guided by the Ministry of Education's Aesthetic Education Immersion Initiative, examines the structural effects of AI on university-level calligraphy training. The adjustment of traditional skill inheritance to intelligent instruction education, the need for a balance between aesthetic cultivation and dependence on technical knowledge, and the natural relationship between traditional paradigms and artificial intelligence are the main issues discussed. This shift aims to transform calligraphy education from skill-based training to an emphasis on holistic literacy and creativity, supporting the evolution of Chinese calligraphy education in the AI era.
