The Study on Distribution of Population and Level of Education among the Various Categories of People in Namakkal District of Tamil Nadu

Abstract The present study examines the distribution of population and the level of education among various categories of people in Namakkal District of Tamil Nadu. It aims to understand how demographic factors such as caste, gender, occupation, income, and rural–urban differences influence educational attainment. Using secondary data collected from government records, census reports, the study analyses literacy rates, participation in education across different social groups. The results reveal that Namakkal District has achieved a relatively high overall literacy rate; however, educational disparities persist among different communities and between rural and urban areas. Scheduled Castes and economically weaker sections continue to lag behind in educational achievement, while gender differences remain evident, especially at higher levels of education. The study also notes that there is a gap in education among male and female. The study highlights block wise growth of population, literate an illiteracy among various sections of the people in Namakkal district. The findings underscore the need for more inclusive educational policies that target marginalized groups, enhance rural educational infrastructure, and promote gender equality in education. Overall, the study concludes that equitable educational development is essential for balanced social and economic progress in Namakkal District and recommends continued efforts to reduce disparities and improve educational opportunities for all sections of the population.
