| Abstract | Career Development Competencies (CDC) are vital for enhancing employability, career satisfaction, and adapting to 21st-century demands, including digital and soft skills. This study investigated the mediating role of career orientations in the relationship between positive school experiences and CDC among randomly selected senior high school students from three public schools in Malita District, Davao Occidental, Region XI, Philippines (SY 2023–2024). Employing a non-experimental, descriptive-correlational design, data were gathered using standardized, modified questionnaires assessing positive school experiences, career orientations, and career development competencies. Statistical analyses included weighted mean, Pearson’s r, and Sobel’s test. The results indicated high levels across all three variables and revealed significant positive correlations. Sobel’s test confirmed a partial mediating effect of career orientations, aligning with Holland’s Theory of Vocational Types. These findings emphasize the importance of aligning educational experiences and career orientations to foster students’ career readiness and satisfaction. The study offers insights for educators and policymakers in addressing global challenges related to skills mismatch and youth unemployment. |
