| Abstract | Terrorism is not a new concept, and although it has existed since the early history of civilization, clearly defining it can be quite difficult. Terrorism, once a national issue in certain regions, is now viewed as a danger to worldwide peace and security. Every nation is compelled to confront the difficulties posed by terrorism. Today, it has emerged as a significant danger to international stability and especially to India's national security. Terrorists are enhancing their skills and capabilities in every facet of their operations and support. The increasing availability of weapon technology, combined with the rising purchasing power of terrorist organizations and access to trained personnel, has intensified the threat posed by terrorism. Terrorist activities not only undermine the principles of democracy and freedom but also poses significant challenges to human existence, progress, and development. There is need for stringent measures to prevent terrorism. This article aims to examine terrorism in India by analysing its nature, causes, and effects using historical data, and to propose solutions for addressing this critical issue. |
