Critical Study on the Effect of Social Media Screen Time on Youth Efficiency in Mumbai

| Abstract | In today’s world, social networking has become a fundamental aspect of everyday life., making it impossible to ignore its influence. This study aims to explore its effects on the younger generation in India, focusing on various aspects such as education, privacy, and knowledge-sharing. The research gathered data through a structured questionnaire via Google Forms. The questions addressed topics like whether social media is beneficial for educational purposes, privacy issues, and knowledge gathering. A total of 120 responses were collected. Of the respondents 48.8% reported spending 1 to 2 hours daily on social media, while 34.7% believed that it negatively affects their physical and mental health. Additionally, 43.8% thought that social media is a waste of youth's time, and 60.3% used online resources during exam periods. Importantly, 94.2% strongly agreed that social media offers a platform for individuals to display their hidden talents. |
