Abstract BACKGROUND: An occupational hazard is a condition or situation in the workplace that can harm a workplace health or safety, there are many types of occupational hazards including, physical safety hazards that could lead to injury in an accident, such as sleeping, working with machinery, electrical hazards or confined spaces and biological hazards such as exposing to infectious disease, mold toxic or poisonous plants or animals. Needle stick injuries are a hazard for people who work with hypodermic syringes and other needle equipment. Effective management of needle stick injuries is crucial for preventing blood borne pathogen transmission, reducing occupational exposure once promoting a safe working environment. This requires a comprehensive approach encompassing prevention strategies, immediate post-exposure care, Post-Exposure Prophylaxis (PGP), testing and follow- up care.
