| Abstract | Acharya Chanakya, an ancient Indian polymath is the founder of the foundational text of Indian politics Arthashastra, who had an articulated a realistic educational philosophy. His ideas about education were focused on comprehensive growth, moral-ethical basis, practicality, societal well-being and unity. In the present paper, the philosophical investigation is carried out aiming to find out the echoes between the educational philosophy of Chanakya and its relevance to the present system of education. Through the examinations of Chanakya regarding the objectives of education, curriculum, instruction techniques, the teacher and discipline, the research shows that his wisdom presents a rich historical and philosophical justification to the goals of policy. The paper has concluded that the Chanakya concept of education as a character-building, developing and social-beneficial tool is very much in line with the visions of present system that the nature of education proposed by him is not a new importation by foreigners but rather a new birth of local education. The study also concludes that integrating Chanakya's holistic principles balancing material success with spiritual well-being and individual ambition with social duty can guide a necessary reformation of the present system. Such integration is essential for cultivating not merely skilled professionals, but complete, ethically grounded individuals capable of leading purposeful lives and contributing to a harmonious society. |
