Impact of Social Inequality and Culture on Elementary Education in Bihar

Abstract Abstract
Education, in its widest sense, plays a vital role in the overall development of children by equipping them with essential knowledge and skills and enabling their access to productive employment in later life. Elementary education serves as the foundation for higher education and is crucial for the social and economic development of society.
In Bihar, both rural and urban areas face significant educational challenges due to prevailing socio-economic conditions. Social inequalities based on caste, class, and gender continue to be major factors contributing to educational deprivation among children. A substantial number of children belonging to economically weaker and socially marginalized sections, particularly girls in rural areas, either lack access to elementary education or are unable to complete even the minimum years of schooling.
