| Abstract | This study examines the influence of volition comprising personal causation, values, and interests on the occupational engagement and business performance of women entrepreneurs in the Delta districts. The research adopted a descriptive research design and collected primary data from 387 women entrepreneurs using a structured questionnaire and snowball sampling technique. Path analysis was employed to analyse the relationships among the study variables. The findings revealed that all three dimensions of volition significantly and positively influenced occupational engagement. Among them, values emerged as the strongest predictor, followed by interests and personal causation. Occupational engagement also had a significant positive effect on business performance. Furthermore, personal causation and interests exerted direct positive influences on business performance, indicating that volitional characteristics not only enhance entrepreneurial engagement but also contribute directly to business success. The study concludes that strengthening women entrepreneurs' confidence in their abilities, aligning entrepreneurial activities with personal values, and fostering sustained business interests can significantly improve occupational engagement and business performance. The findings provide valuable implications for policymakers, entrepreneurship development institutions, and training organizations seeking to promote sustainable women entrepreneurship in the Delta districts. |
