Navigating Chaos: How Entrepreneurial Leadership Styles Influence Success in VUCA Markets

Author(s) Dr. Kok Weng Chen
Country Malaysia
Abstract This theoretical paper examines how entrepreneurial leadership may influence organizational success in volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous markets. It focuses on small and medium sized enterprises and startups, where limited resources and rapid market change heighten leadership demands. Drawing on strategic entrepreneurship, dynamic capabilities and contemporary leadership perspectives, the paper develops an integrated conceptual account of how opportunity recognition, innovation orientation, adaptive decision making and calculated risk taking may support organizational adaptability, resilience and performance. Pragmatism provides the philosophical basis for a proposed explanatory sequential mixed methods research agenda, combining survey and secondary data analysis with case studies, interviews and focus groups. The paper does not present empirical data or causal estimates. Its contribution is a source grounded conceptual framework and a transparent research agenda for studying entrepreneurial leadership in VUCA conditions.
