| Abstract | The management of biomedical waste is crucial to the provision of safe healthcare, infection control, workplace safety, and environmental preservation. During diagnosis, treatment, immunization, laboratory testing, research, and other medical operations, healthcare facilities produce several types of waste. While the majority of medical waste is not hazardous, a significant amount may be chemical, pharmacological, infectious, sharps-related, or otherwise harmful. Healthcare personnel, waste handlers, patients, and communities may be at risk for infection, occupational injuries, hazardous materials, and environmental contamination due to improper segregation, handling, transportation, treatment, and disposal. |
